Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina
Jolie Voight (born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American
actress, director and producer who is well-known for her sex appeal as also her
humanitarian work. Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, was raised in New
York. After her early years, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was the
character of an inpatient with mental illness in Girl, interrupted (1999). She
attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years. She after
that, she enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Later, she studied acting at
New York University. She also acted in theatre productions, and was a model for
music videos. It was in Hackers (1995) when Jolie was introduced to Jonny Lee
Miller, a British actor (married in 1996, divorced in 1999). The film was not
well-loved, and so were several other films. Jolie was the segregationist
spouse of Alabama's governor. She received much attention in 1997. She later
received an award, the Golden Globe Award. In the following year, she played
the role of a model who was struggling with addiction issues in the HBO film
Gia, a performance that brought her numerous awards as well as a Golden Globe
and a Screen Actors Guild Award. After her Oscar-winning performance from Girl,
Interrupted, Jolie played in Pushing Tin, a comedy featuring John Cusack, Billy
Bob Thornton and Billy Bob Thornton. Then, in 2003, she divorced. In Gone in
Sixty Seconds ((2000)) Jolie played Nicole Cage's girlfriend. She later took on
the British accent and learned kickboxing and street fighting for the role of
the title in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The
Cradle of Life (2004). Jolie played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's
Alexander in 2004. She also starred with Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky
Captain: The World of Tomorrow The World of Tomorrow, a thriller about sci-fi
set in 1930s New York City. Both films did poorly in the box office, however
Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was an enormous success. Jolie played a
character pretending to play a normal domestic worker while working on the
movie. Brad Pitt became her partner.
